back in my drinking days, I didn't give two fucks about anything other than if I had enough cigarettes and enough whiskey to make it until morning.

the drug pushers, whether they are hired by some dive bar to saunter about in their tight fitting teeshirts and coke ripped skinnies; or if they were paid by some mutinational drug cartel to photograph my id in exchange for death on the installment plan, were the only people i cared about seeing everyday.

Marketing is easy to the doomed and hopeless.

Shitty gifts like can openers with ugly horses and Marlboro men painted on them and coupons from Phillip Morris on my birthday. This is like 5 years after I allowed some asshole to photocopy my license at a bar in exchange for a free pack.

I make an effort to never use the coupons. This serves as some sort of mental-detachment mechanism. I'm above it. It's like "fuck you Big Tobacco you can't buy me!"

But then I go out and think it's awesome when a gas station is selling buy-two-get-one packs of Parliaments.

Big Tobacco is dead to me and I'm seriously thinking about starting quit attempt number 4. But mostly because I wheeze sometimes and am always fatigued.

what is happening right now in the world of non-carbonated soft drinks? and also in terms of socks? by which i mean to say, mr. punk, that unless you intend to update us as to the state of your babysitter's footwear, and i start reading again about kool-aid, i wouldn't go around requesting people blog on their quotidian existences.

but more relevantly, I got back some info from one of the bands that did the Farm promotion I refer to above, and here's what she had to say*: "basically [we] were looking for an easy place to do a pre-wedding show/party, and that weekend was the only time we could do it. we asked a few places including the darkroom because they ask us to play shows a fair amount and we've had a decent time playing there in the past (only on their thurs night music nights). they said that night would work out well, so we just booked it - later to find out that they'd guarantee each band $300. [our band] was just about to put out an album on vinyl and we kind of just accepted the cash since we had only like $600 in our band bank. they didn't actually tell us it was for camel until after it was all set up and it was too late (and i didn't have time or prioritize it with a wedding a week later) to see about doing it somewhere else without the retarded sponsor. that's pretty much the gist of it."

*she's gonna stay anonymous until I confirm it's cool to state her name and band.
