So we are thinking about opening up an art gallery in cleveland's little italy. It would be a large space new the Cleveland Institute of Art where we would host art shows, sell zines, and artist jewelery.
Someone talk me out of it.

This is a stupid idea!
You are going to lose your shirt. Nobody buys art these days, nobody wants to read zines, and nobody wants to buy jewelry outside of fancy stores. This is one of your worst ideas ever. It is doomed to failure. It is financial suicide.

all convincing arguments.
We are going to schedule a walk through with the building manager soon. If the rent is under 300 a month, its most likely a GO.
Mainly because I want to get strong armed into pay protection money to old world italians.
Actually, RJohn, I'm really curious how this is going to work out. When Doug and I started geneva13press last year, we planned to print geneva13 for at least three years to help stimulate the creative output of the community and then open up an art space somewhat akin to a/v space in Rochester. Basically I envision it be a mix between an art gallery, performance space, and an active studio/workshop for people to make zines, art, and other artistic endeavors. I'm curious what types of obstacles arise for you and how you navigate them. Be sure to make a zine documenting the process.
And does this mean you're in Cleveland for the foreseeable future?
this is a great idea!
sorry that i couldn't be more discouraging.
the dream is dashed.
550 a month is too much to ask.
we are going to wait and see if it is still empty in a couple of months and make an offer.
$550 isn't so much, There's also other questions to answer, all of which, I'm sure you're aware of.
-Are utilities included (most likely- no)?
-Would the landlord be taking a cut of your sales (most likely)?
-Too old to be clean, far too young to be broken
